Building Houses

Science Intensive Week - the first week of Term 3. Topic was about building houses using ideas from 'Three Little Pigs' story. We split junior school into three big groups and each group built a house. One group built a flax house, another group built a stick house (teepee house), and the third group built a brick house.

Watch the video for some of the things we did as we built our houses. We talked about insulation, fire hazards, strenth, materials and tools used to build a house.

  1. Great house building. Maybe we could get the people who run this country to build us these sorts of houses so that every person in New Zealand can have the opportunity to live in a safe and warm home.

  2. Thank you, Teresa. We had fun building our houses. Children did enjoy our work because they got to know more about houses in the past and compare that with today's houses.
